This book tries to illustrate the aspect of mass killings, by using quotes from different historical sources, and images of trash. By photographing vandalised (or humiliated) banal objects I question the ability to dehumanise humans or to humanise objects in certain extreme situations. By juxtaposing images of waste and quotes from mass murders, I hope to evoke a comparison between genocide and trash in the way we treat things we consider to be of no value, whether it is destroying rotting fruit or humans lives. Sometimes showing traumatised objects can be more telling than showing photographs of human gore.
